Penn Reels
Hello Sportsman, does anyone use a old Penn 109 reel? I'm fairly new to Saltwater fishing, but I bought one of these brand new as a kid and I never really used it. Thinking of trying it out for some inshore/pier fishing around here and matching it with a Ugly Stick 6'6 medium action. Any input on what to string it with or what it can handle is appreciated!

RE
Good to hear Hogheaven. Thanks for the input, I appreciate it. I'll have it here on Fri. I'll probably put it on a medium intercoastal ugly stick and put some 15lb test on it. I'm suprised how much fishing stuff I actually bought as a kid haha. I got something for EVERYTHING!

penn 109
the penn 109 and 9m are two really tough reels. we used them alot before the advent of the ambassador 5000. they were and still are death on bull reds. and make good bottom fishing reels for white trout and channel or ground mullet aka southern kingfish aka southern whiting. as long as you don't forget to back the drag off after each use they will last the recreational fisherman for at least two to three generations. the only problem that i ever had with one was the pawl breaking on a king mackeral and there was a spare pawl in the reel!
