i went fishing today from the bank in lake ponchartrain not very familiar with the lake just the particular spot i fish i usually catch hard head croaker and flounder . my rods started bending over and started catching what i think was black tip shark one after another. i never landed any of the fish everytime they got near the shore they either straightened out the hook or cut my leader. i never got a good look at the the whole fish jus their tail and the tip was black and they swam like a shark. is there black tip shark in the lake, what kinda fish do yall think they were?

Sharks
may till i think around august, bull sharks come in the lake to have their pups which is why a lot of the sharks caught in the lake are small, but there always is momma hanging around somewhere. We used to catch them all the time off the seawall. Just remember you can't keep them unless they are over 54 inches long, and the limit is one per vessel (not sure how that works on land). Check out some of my old pictures i think i have some on here with some bull sharks from the lake. We used to just cast net some mullet or pogies cut them up, toss it out on a wire leader and wait. GOOD LUCK

Sharks in Pontchatrain
There is a large shark community in that big lake , mostly bull sharks till now . Last year there were alot of shark catches reported , alot were coming from the west side . You would never believe what is actually in that lake .

All u need
All you really need is a leader and a decent hook. I was in florida a couple weeks ago and were catching em on my redfish pole and a metal leader. You should be good to go with that.

black tip sharks go up rivers so i'm sure they would be in lake P. could have very well been a black tip. To bad you couldn't get one in they are some fine eating!
