Boat and Theives info.
My boat and trailer is now at the shop and I'm waiting to see how much it is going to cost me to put it back together, I should find out some time this week. As for the theives they are both out of jail so LOOK OUT GUYS! I talked to the police department today and they told me the court date should be in 2 to 3 months. Hopefully they start talking and tell me or the cops where all my stuff is.
Thanks.

Venting
You go ahead and vent all you want it does help. The other option doesn't help you at all and it brings you down to there level, And causes more problems I know you don't need. I am sure the others that have posted are just venting as well and would take a similar route as you have taken. Stay on the high road.

You can have Kevin show you all the spots he knows because they change all the time there are no secret spots. I tell anyone where and how I catch all the time no big deal or secret. Plus he doesn't know them all. I hope as others have said that the insurance company get you right.

cobia I will not quit on these guys nor will I quit for US sportsman. I will do whatever it takes to try and keep them in jail but there is only so much I can do. One of them is already out. I wish I didnt have anything to loose B/C I would probably be in jail myself. Talking to a bunch of people I know they tell me what they would do and I just cant bring myself to it. I have gotten older and wiser its just not worth it. Life is too short. I wish they would atleast tell the police where the rest of my stuff is! Sorry guys had to vent.

Please post more information as it becomes available. It's great to see slimeballs get what they deserve.

Of course, they'll probably only get the proverbial slap on the wrist though.

Dodge truck
Now I find my self looking at every ext cab black dodge I see but doesn't help without any other info on it. I guess the neighbor didn't notice any decals or anything out of the ordinary to give us something more to look for. There are plenty of ext cab dodge trucks around. I saw one yesterday at the Sam's that had a new lic. plate but it was La so who knows what to check. We would all like to catch this guy.

Prints
I dont think there will be that many prints from me or my girlfriend since since I only got to take the boat out twice. I did see some print smuges on the grab rail of the center console due to them cutting the hydro steering lines. The only thing with that is when I went back the next day they had 2 kids playing around in the boat. I guess that does not help?

Prints
Actually processing the affected area(s) for fingerprints would not take that long. They would not process the entire boat. The biggest problem would be the surface area itself. If smooth then they should have been able to get some decent prints. Of course this assumes the thieves were not wearing gloves. Any textured surfaces would be pretty hard for the average street cop to process. (I know, I have been one for 20 years) Generally speaking textured surfaces, say for instance the top of the sides, would take special processing such as magnetic powder or something of that nature. Of course the thief/scumbag also has to have been previously arrested or arrested in the future for any "hits" on any prints lifted that are readable and entered into the A.F.I.S. system.
I know this does not help you at all at this point and I am really sorry that this happened to you.
For any of you out there that are the victim of a theft ask the responding officer/deputy to process whatever he can for fingerprints. If he gives some lame excuse, and some will, call his supervisor and ask about it. Most cops are also outdoorsmen and are very likely to help however they can. If not, regardless of the situation, always call a supervisor. Don't be an ass, but simply and politely ask whatever question(s) you may have. You may get more favorable results that way. If all else fails call the chief or the sheriff as the case may be.

Prints
Do you know how long it would take to dust that boat..think about how many prints are actually on it, yours, your buddies, your kids, wife and any other person that has been in it. I wish it would be as easy as it looks on CSI but its not. I've been on both sides of the situation and hate'em both!

Partial Sponsorship
Doorman it is very hard for someone to get a full sponsorship these days. I was just starting out trying to prove myself worthy so by having decales on my boat was a start. The only thing I got for free was a few baits from the inventor of the "CW CRAB" which I did not even get a chance to try out. I did get a discount on a few other things in my boat and thank them very much. I did like the most expensive things so I still had to come out of pocket for all my fishing equiptment. I also got a bunch of E-mails and text messages from lots of people trying to help and want to tell them Thank You very much.

take prints yourself
It is a shame they didn't dust for prints on your boat or when they tried to steal my truck the second time , I think this is this same guy , I don't know if you seen it on the other site but I told the story of the guy in the black Dodge extended cab who looked like a redneck (not to offend or profile ) who had me jump to the window and see my truck door open , the aftermarket alarm going off , the light inside on , and him running to the street and jumping in the same type truck and driving off with loud mufflers on the truck , I had asked if you could ask your neighbor about the loud exhaust , I also remember the truck had a tool box behind the cab

insurance guy
I am an insurance guy & 2 claims in 3 years will get you cancelled on a home owner policy.
catastrophe claims usually are not included (Katrina, Gustav...etc.)
for example- he could get paid less deductible for the theft, but if a kitchen fire was to happen within 3 years of the theft claim, that claim would also be paid, but the policy would be non-renewed.Once a policy is dropped, LA Citizens is probably the only company that would write the house at that point.

If you file a theft claim against your homeowners, it is like getting an OUI on your auto ins. You don't want to do it if you don't have too.

Home owners
In southeast LA, filing a smaller claim for stolen personal property off of a boat is probably not the best idea, because of the limited home owner market available to us in South LA.
If your home owner policy pays out for the rods & stuff, another claim within 3 years could result in non-renewal of the home owner policy & there are not many companies writing new policies in the area. Just FYI
it sucks that you even have to deal with this.

prints
They don't take finger prints for any theft crimes. You're kidding yourself if you even think for a second that anyone is gonna investigate this crime. All the cops do on a theft case is write a report so you can file with your insurance. The only chance of the thief getting caught is when he is in the act of stealing or selling stolen goods.

I'm not knocking the cops, just stating a fact. You would think it would be easy to dust for prints, then run them through the system. Couldn't possibly take too much time or trouble with today's technology.

Insurance
Check with your agent that writes your homeowner's insurance. I had a trolling motor, GPS, and tackle stolen from my boat sitting in my driveway. My homeowner's covered everything but the $500 deductible and my boat insurance paid the $500. You might get reimbursed 100%.

prints and location
No they did not take any prints off the boat I dont know why. The pictures of the boat is at the storage place not where it was found. As for takeing off a tire I guess all they would have to do is get their own rim and tire and put it on? People like this really dont care Where, When, or How anything is locked up they will figure out a way to take it. I guess they start thinking of it as a challange and start figuring it out. If they want it they will get it. We just need to stick together and get people like this off OUR streets. They have NO respect for what is mine or yours. And untill we start finding and putting these guys in jail they will keep on doing it. Just like it was for him to take my boat it has become a challange for me to catch him. I just want him off the street so there is one less theif on our streets. You dont steal especially from me!

suggestion
If you have to keep your boat outside, take your tackle and life jackets out of it. Another easy thing to do, is to take off one of the wheels on the trailer and leave the axle on a cinder block. It only takes 5 minutes to put it back on. Beats the hell out of dealing with the insurance company.

Boat Location and Ins. info
Sorry guys my boat was found in Mississippi heading north on 603 and off of Hwy 53. Im still working with my Ins. company and I will keep yall posted on how everything works out. The only things that were left in the boat was my Check It Stick ruller, 2 containers of GULP, scrub brush, and my Just Grab It Glove. Everything else is GONE all 9 of my fishing poles, and 1 fly rod, saltwater tackle box and my freshwater box, life jackets, rain gear etc. My Ins. company is saying I only had $1000 for fishing gear which 3 of my poles were more than that so I guess I'm out there.

ebay is probably where they sell alot of stolen stuff. Im suprised they didnt burn it too. one extra idea is a small outside camera system with a 24 hour loop recorder, its worth the few hundred dollars to have the evidence to put someone like this in prison. some systems can hook to the tv and you can watch in your house by turning on the channel on your tv while at home and you can monitor it from a computer from anywhere.

theft proof?
i posted this idea on another posts one time!!! to make it more thief proof, take the coupler off your trailer. weld shut all the holes on the coupler and the trailer. put the coupler back on your trailer and drill 2 new holes in different places!! but go to a metric bolt a little smaller and drill it very tight, just buy a good strong bolt, so a standard size bolt won't fit thru the holes!!! when you have it parked, take the coupler off the trailer and if some low-life piece of whatever, has another coupler, and bolts, don't matter, it won't fit!!!! and no chains to wrap around the trailer hitch!!! personally, i think its a pretty good idea!!! what do ya'll think??????? i know there ain't nothing theft proof and you are right!! but, if you can make it harder and make it take them a lot more time, they might not fool with it!!!

Thanks Guys
Thanks for all your support guys. I will say this just watch out for all your stuff no matter what kind of lock you have. If a scum trash ball low life wants it they will figure out a way to get it. Someone told me the way they take things is by hooking up behind the yellow lock if they cant get it off and takeing the chain wraping it around the tounge of the trailer then around the tow hitch and take off. As for what my neighbor did I cant blame him for anything wrong! When he saw the guy he asked if he knew me not knowing he had cut the lock and the scum ball said he works with me. And as the guy took off in a hurry thats when he called my cell and asked if I had someone takeing my boat. I just cant see how when there is only THREE ways in and out St. Bernard Parish he was able to get out. Im a lil discusted there! As of now I can say that I tried everything to catch this scum low life pice of .... and nothing YET. I am to the point to where I just want my fishing stuff back or get him off the street where there is one less person US honest living fishing guys have to worry about. Once again Thanks and keep looking for me.

A CHEAP BURGULAR ALARM!! i don't think there is a lock made, that a thief can't get off! these guys have a small cutting torch or a battery operated sawzall!! no problem!!! but a simple cheap alarm can get them running!! go to radio shack or maybe an auto parts store and buy a mercury switch, a regular 12 volt auto horn, or up to you one of those super loud horns, that sound like an airhorn on an 18 wheeler, but more expensive, an on-off switch, toggle or anykind, even like a house light switch, whatever you like and an in line fuse link and some electrical wire! mount all of these things on a piece of three quarter inch wood or whatever material you like!! make it as small as possible, up to you! mount it, where no-one can see it and out of the weather! find a hot wire, that stays hot all the time, or run your electrical wire to the hot on a battery. run your hot wire to the in line fuse link, then from the other side of the fuse link, to the mercury switch. then from the other side of the mercury switch, to the hotside of the horn, then ground the horn to the most convient ground! you can put the horn anywhere, it doesn't have to be mounted by the switch!! just make sure it can't be seen easily, cause they will just cut the hot wire to the horn!! now raise you trailer tongue up and position the mercury switch level and flip the switch on and have someone lower the trailer tongue and see when the horn goes off? just turn the switch left or right to adjust it!! when the horn goes off before the trailer can be hooked to a trailer hitch, and you are satisfied you got it, just screw it down!! the size of the fuse in the fuse link depends on what size wire you use! just make sure you wire everything correctly before you turn the power on!!! when you park your boat, turn the switch on and when you use it, turn the switch off. don't forget to turn it off before you use it or it will scare the heck out of you and worst, wake up your neighbors!!! THIS IDEA COMES WITH ABSOLUTLY NO WARRANTY, LIFETIME OR LIMITED!!!!!!!!!!! GOOD LUCK!!!! one more thing!! I DON'T THINK ON AN ALUMINUM BOAT YOU SHOULD GROUND, the horn directly to the alunmimun on the boat??? you should go to the ground post on the battery??? i would find out first!!!

Sorry to hear the bad new!!!!
For those who read this..A good deturrent is to lower the tongue all the way down, tilt the motor all the way down and take out the battery. This is what I do as a preventative. I hope they find your boat, She's beautiful.

Plate and lock
The plate did not reg. to any vehicle. I had a Master lock on the top and one of those big Yellow Master locks that go on the tongue where the ball goes. I found some pieces of the smaller Master lock but nothing from the bigger one.

Bow Numbers
The bow numbers are LA 7445 FV . I got them from Acadamey the ones that are silver and fade to black. The LA registration stickers on the bow in front or the numbers are blue and expires in 2013. Once again Thanks

The nerve of some people! Steal my car: go ahead. Steal my wallet: go ahead. Steal my boat: I will hunt you down and get some "Justice"!!!

On a serious note, what does the insurance company say? I assume you had insurance, right?

Low Life Piece of sh#&
Man that is crazy I can't believe the nerve some of these low life's have. Has there been anyone working in your area lately on someone's house that might have spotted the boat. Someone saw it and realized what time you weren't there to take a chance like that. I have a friend of mine that lives in Picayune I will let him know about it and ask him to keep an eye out. It takes a life time to get a rig like that and expect to have it for a long time sorry to hear this and hope someone spots it for you. So you can get it back soon this sucks!!
