Possible state record Tonight I caught a possible state record blue runner (hard tail) as we all know them. No way to use a state certified scale as of now. Working on it.. But I did find a formula to get a close weight on it.. The approx. weight is 8.42 lbs.. Which would beat the state record that stands at 7.50 lbs.

Nice fish Be certain you contact wild life and fisheries to have an agent present. I recently read an article about a fellow who caught a would be world record stripped bass if he would followed all the rules. I attached the article below. Good luch and don't use it to catch tuna! lolrnrnhttp://www.gofishn.com/gofishn/monster-striped-bass-denied-state-record-could-be-world-record-1000000-fish/
Not a hardtail A blue runner has both a spinous dorsal and a soft dorsal, your fish does not. The dorsal is also set further back than on a blue runner. As the previous post says its likely a horse-eye jack.
Horseeye Jack I'm not an expert on fish, but that might be a small horse eye jack. Something about the tail and the ridge forward of the tail appear to be different from the hardtail. Not sure though.
offshore Are you working offshore? I hope you have a commercial fishing license. Since you are on a commercial boat/rig/platform you are suppose to have a commercial license. We had guys get busted at the heliport for bringing fish in (even tho they were within regulation). Thats what the LDWF told us.
