First Annual Christina Sternberger Curtis Fishing Tournament
Hey, my names DJ Rebstock, I'm a senior at Destrehan High School and as a senior we must complete a senior project in order to graduate. As my senior project I chose to do fishing rodeo in honor of my grandma Christina S. Curtis who passed of breast cancer. The tournament will be held October 30th, 2010. Chicot Lake Record since 1997
I caught this 14 pound bass in Chicot Lake in March 1997. Once we drove to Ville Platte and back to Chicot for the official weighing and recording for the bass, it was recorded as 13.63 pounds and was indeed the lake record. I was also nicely surprised with a $1,000 check in Chicot State Park’s Big Bass Contest for the 1996-97 season. I released the bass and the park issued a glass replica. I caught it on a black, red metal flake lizard made by Zoom. I'd like to thank Berkeley Big Game, Quantum rod and reels and Zoom bait company for helping to make this happen.

bass bayou lacombe?
any pointers or info on bayou lacombe bass fishing? i drove out to the launch this past weekend, so i know where it is. however, i just want to know if i can go north from the launch (up the bayou) and fit a 17ft bass boat. also, what can i use to try for bass. thanks

Lots of little bass
My nephew and I fished the spillway yesterday. Good to see a healthy population of 10' to 13' bass coming back. We caught fish in the Murphy lake area, Catfish lake and Little Pigeon. Find good moving water and you have fish. Even caught some nice goggle eyes on texas-rigged plastics. Might break out the jig poles and tube jigs next weekend :)

Old Boat Gas
I have an La Traveler that has set up for 2 yrs with a full tank of gas. What is the best way to dispose of it? In the past, I have mixed fresh gas with some old and gone with it. Thoughts on mixing in some Stabil water remover, pumping out half that gas and refilling with fresh ETHANOL FREE gas???

Lake Bruin
Went to Lake Bruin over the weekend. Did not fish alot but did fish. Did catch 6 bass during daylight hrs. Fished at night around the lights and got a bunch of stripers. One was 5lb and one was 6 lb. Love the lake.

Bass Fishing in Texas
We fished Fayette Res. in Texas on Saturday morning and ended catching a few fish. We finished with around 10 fish but all were over 3lbs. with largest going around 6.

Catch And Release
Just my observation.Chartering here on the Bend since 75.It was common practice to put the knife to bass 12' and over a 45 three man limit.Did this for years,the fish were plentiful and everywhere.Things changed as time and tournament fishing became very popular and catch and release was born.I can tell you honestly that since that time fram , I get customers, 99% of them , that wont keep fish.SO, Is this a change in the making,option to get back out or what.Just my observation.JD

Just a quick comment,I dont know if anyone pays attention to the new product banner on the front page.Today there is a add for truck camo stencils.I have a Toyota SR-5 and been wanting to camo it for awhile .I saw this add a couple weeks ago,I ordered the kit and started this project last wk.So far I have the front fenders and hood finished , it really looks great,lots of camo trucks here nothing like this one.Lots of prep work, sanding etc.End result,worth it.Anyway, this product is the deal if you are wanting to give your hunting truck a fase-lift. When I finish I finish I will post pic's.As far as the fish the fall bight is getting close.JD

Chicot Lake
Was wondering if anyone been fishing chicot lately. Trying to figure out what the bass are doing for this upcoming weekend. Would greatly appreciate a report. Havent been there in a while. Trying to catch Bass so any and all help would be greatful.

60 PLUS
I took my brother to Henderson Saturday and we located the bass early. They hit anything we threw. white or chatreuse spinner, worm, fluke, ribbit, rattle trap or crank baits. They were everywhere. We caught over 60 ( I was counting fairly accuratley)by 1:00. We left them biting, brother had to go. We kept 5- 16' fish to smell the skillet. most of the others wer 13 1/2' football. All were beautiful healthy fish and with the clear dark water they were dark.

I went back Sunday and they had moved out and i didn't have it in me to go look for them, but the shad were in schools an i imagine if you stay with the shad it won't be long the bass will find them.

Santee Cooper Fall Bassin'
I guess I'm just a died in the wool fisherman; I just can't understand why someone would want to go hunting in the fall when fishing is sooo gooooood in the fall. Ha Ha! This fall is going to be awesome in the lower lake this year for old Wally Greenback (Mr. Largemouth, Wide Jaw, etc.)With all the shallow water vegetation in the lakes now, fish a Senko and floating worm as you would in the Spring. Also throw topwater early and late. Fish the thick stuff with a heavy jig/crawfish trailer.
These early mornings feel great, don't they? Makes me glad to be an outdoorsman. Oh, by the way, I love to hunt, too.

Lake Cataouatche
I heard they recently sprayed the grass in the lake. How will this affect the fishing there for a while? I've never fished the lake after it's been sprayed but love it when the grass is matted.

TOLEDO BEND FIELD REPORT
IMPORTANT MEMO: I just received an e-mail from the Sabine River Authority and there are now tenative plans to draw the lake down to 165 feet which will be 7 feet below full pool. There is a meeting scheduled for Friday Sept 3. The purpose of drawdown is to do maintance on the dam. I often fish along the face of the dam.....there are definately places that need repair and they cannot be repaired without drawing down the levels. The 165 levels should leave most ramps open. Fishing could actually improve with points/structure more visible. However, stay in main boat-runs and use caution.

Heading to red river pool 4 this weekend. Any tips on where to locate some bass and type of bait to throw would be real nice to know. It's only my second time there. Fell in love with it the first time. Thanks for any help.

LAKE CONDITIONS: At mid-week the lake level is as low as it has been in over a year and stands at 167.3 feet which is almost 5 feet below full pool of 172'. Water temps are running from 84 to 88 degrees and most of the lake is clear with extremely clear water found on the southern one-third of the lake. One generator is running from 3 to 5 p.m. each day for downstream considerations. With water levels falling, I am getting reports of lakefront property owners having to cope with shallow grass around their dock making it more difficult to get boat in/out. However, bass are moving into the grass and will improve shallow water patterns these next three months.

Last week was a little busy despite of the warm weather. We took a couple from Louisiana. He was pretty interested in the lake and its surroundings. Jason K. and his wife were very surprised about the kind of fishing they were enjoying, about the lake and all the information I told them about. Jason was more than happy as he broke his own record of 6 Lbs as he caught several 6, 7, 8 and 9 Lbs and the best of it, at the end of the day he caught a 10 + !!!

any help
i am young and new to bass fishing so i was looking for any help i could get. i love bass fishing. i fish the butte larose area very often with very little success. any and all input would be greatly appreciated. im doing this all on my own and have no one to help and give little tips or anything. im very dedicated as well. i work 2 on and 2 off so i have all the time in the world to fish. it seems i just need a little help. false river
im going to false river in a couple of weeks and i was wandering how to catch the bass out there. last time we went we only caught 2 fish. is there any tips or places to fish to catch more? anything would be appreciated. we will be fishing off of the bank and in a little flat boat.

Late Afternoon Bite
I wanted to take my son Matthew out for a fishing trip Saturday in the big boat but the wind was blowing just too hard so I decided just to hang around the house and farm. Matthew and I ended up taking a trip to the feed store and knocking around the farm, filling deer feeders and changing batteries, checking box stands etc.

Our last stop in town was at Wal Mart where we bought a few new lures to use in the pond behind the house. Matt and I started fishing around six and the topwater bite was good. We didn't catch that many but it was great just spending time together enjoying the outdoors.

A whopping 36 fiberglass replicas for 10 lb bass and over were presented at the Sealy’s McDonald’s Big Bass Splash held recently at Cypress Bend Park on Toledo Bend Reservoir. The Toledo Bend Lake Association sponsors the program yearly with assistance from Toledo Town and Tackle as a conservation measure for the reservoir.

can anyone tell me where i can go to get a bass fishing report for anywhere in this area so i can cut down on unsuccessful trips (web sites ,email, phone etc.)not looking for honey holes,I catch and release most trips unless some fish needed in freezer.not a tournement fisherman. just need some help it seems that info on bass bite on this site is top secret.It seems like people on this site think that if they give any info on this site their lake will be fished out next week . just looking for a little help.. thanks
