ABA D-96 Tournament on Clarks Hill June 2
Steve Christie of Gray Court won the American Bass Anglers Divison-96 Tournament on Clarks Hill Lake June 25 with 5 fish weighing 18.12 pounds.

Christie had 19.62 pounds and a 6.76 pound kicker, but 3 dead fish knocked his weight down to 18.12 pounds. Christie won $593 and the 1st place option of $95 for a total of $688.Christie caught his fish on a Carolina rig with a Zoom Trick Worm on the lower part of the lake.

William Hooker of Appling, GA, finished 2nd with 5 fish weighing 17.68 pounds, and he had the tournament big fish of 7.18 pounds. Hooker won $362, the 2nd place option of $65, plus the big fish plaque of $135 for a total of $562. Hooker was also fishing the lower part of ..... Read More

SC Division of the ABA Couples on Lake Murray May 18
Kevin and Donna Fulmer of Prosperity won the SC Division of the American Bass Anglers Couples Tournament on Lake Murray May 18.

The winning couple had 21.7 pounds that they caught on pearl flukes and swimbaits.The team also won the lady’s and men’s big fish with Donna’s fish weighing 6.1 pounds and Kevin’s weighing 4.9 pounds.

Martha and Don Goodfellow of Simpsonville were 2nd with 12.7 pounds. Their fish, including Martha’s 5.1 pound bass, were caught on a “Backyard Bait” crankbait fished off shallow, tapered points.

Ana Terry and Brad Rutherford of Lavonia, GA, were 3rd with 11.5 pounds that were caught on flukes and swimbaits early and later with whacky worms.

Dixie Wins SC TBF Team Youth Championship on Lake Murray
Dixie High School won the South Carolina The Bass Federation (TBF) Team Youth Championship on Lake Murray May 11 with a total team weight of 26.75 pounds.

Abbeville High School finished 2nd with 25.47 pounds and North Augusta High School finished 3rd with 20.09 pounds. Twenty-one teams with 98 anglers participated for the team championship.

Christopher Bensel of Dixie High School was the 15-18 y/o division winner with 14.33 pounds.

Colin Slentz of Abbeville High School/Wright Middle School was the 11-14 y/o division winner with 8.97 pounds.

Catawba Catfish Club Lake Wylie 5/4-5/2013 Tournament Results
The Catawba Catfish Club had our 9th and Final Tournament of the 2012-2013 Season this weekend{May 4th and 5th} on Lake Wylie,NC/SC..This was a 2 day tournament which ran 8 hours each day.On day one we had 29 Paying Anglers{14 Boats} come out to fish the tournament,On day 2 we had 12 of the 14 boats come back to fish.All were competing for a Total Pot of $580,we had a Big Fish Pot each day with Day 1 paying $140 and Day 2 paying $120.
Weather was not good either day with High winds and the threat of rain all day long on Day 1,It was only worse when we came back for Day 2 with winds worse and rain just about all day long.
In the end the Team of Team Reelin the Blues capped off a great ..... Read More

Armed Forces Day Paddle Fishing Tournament - May 18, 2013
This Armed Forces Day, Saturday, May 18, 2013, local Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9960 will honor military personnel by hosting a public paddle fishing tournament on the White Oak River and Bogue Inlet waters. This tournament will feature individual cash prizes, as well as special recognition for teams from active/reserve military units and veteran service organizations.

This is the first year for this Armed Forces Day tournament, but organizers intend to hold it on an annual basis.

VFW Post 9960 will host the event and provide meals and facilities for all participants.

ABA Couples on Lake Hartwell April 20
Ana Terry and Brad Rutherford won the American Bass Anglers South Carolina Couples Tournament on Lake Hartwell April 20.

Terry and Rutherford had 15.20 pounds, and they caught their fish on swimbaits and fish-head spins.

Terry and Rutherford have had a great season with a win on Lake Hartwell in March and a second place finish on Lake Russell. They are both college seniors and are set to graduate in May from the University of Georgia and Young Harris College, respectively.

Lesley and Randy Childers of Anderson were second with 14.10 pounds. Lesley was throwing a topwater bait and Randy was throwing a jig. Randy had the Men’s Big Bass with 4.5 pounds.
