Redfishing in the Biloxi Marsh today great day

Ethanol page in transition

The ethanol section of this site is being reworked, and is unavailable at this time. Pete Landry's information is moving to a separate site (to which we will provide links), and we'll be reformating our ethanol section to provide additional links to motor manufacturers so our users can obtain even more information.

An announcement will be made on the front-page news section as soon as the transition is complete. We appreciate your patience.

Grand isle report

My wife and I fished grand Isle Friday and Sat. We had 14 bull reds over 30 inches caught on large cracked crab! We had 8 reds between 20 and 30 inches, also caught on crab. We caught 12 specks on minnows between 16 and 19 inches long. All caught on bottom in the West pass. On the East end of the island caught 2 bull sharks, 1 was 7 foot and the other 4' 8' both we let go. Don't go to the isle if you need a place to stay as all the hotels are booked for months by BP. Thanks BP. We had to camp for 3 days at the marina out of our truck. Will post pics in the next day or so! Thanks for all the help I get from this site.

A good chip for my GPS...

I need recommendations on what chip to buy for my GPS...I only fish the Louisiana coastline and it seems a little ridiculous to pay $200 a map of the entire central U.S.....

Anyone know of a reasonably priced chip that works with a Lowrance GPS unit, and gives me what I need without all the lagniappe adding extra cost??

BASS BOAT OR BAY BOAT??

BASS BOAT OR BAY BOAT?? I think I am the same a dilemma a lot of southeast Louisiana fishermen have been through. I mostly fish the Lake Salvador, Bayou Gauche and Cloverly areas. Presently I have a Nitro 640LX with a 90 Optimax and am looking to get a new boat. The more I shop and the more brochures I look at the more confused I get. At first I wanted something with no carpet that I could hose down easy, looked at some bay boats. The Makos 18 LTS and 1801 looked good. Looked at the Ranger intercostal 188 also, nice but bigger than I initially wanted. For a carpeted bass boat, the Ranger 178VS looks like a great boat also, though I can not find one at a local dealer to look at. Even went ..... Read More

Venice Fishing

The fishing down in Venice is getting better every day with the temperatures and river going down. Each weekend, more and more boats are returning to Venice to catch up on the time missed fishing. Now is time to schedule your trips to get in on some of the fall action and load up the box full of fish. They're some places with overnite accommodation available; however, it is limited.

Still Not Fall

Weekend Report

Wanted to really bounce around a lot this weekend and check as many areas as possible. The wind, which also had the tide blazing in, ruled a few areas out.

Headed out Saturday morning with Brian 'Sir Lunk-a-Lot' Baldwin and Tristan 'Area Rug' Daire. We started off in the deep passes but couldn't hold the bottom with a anchor so we headed to the marsh off of the ICW. Water was high and pretty dirty but we worked a few areas and 1 red and 3 specks hit the igloo. Decided to make a run to the other side of the Rigolets and try the lower Pearl area. Pounded the banks in a few different areas and 3 more reds and 4 bass joined the igloo. Ended the day fishing the drop-offs in ..... Read More

leeville still on

Havent fished leeville in a while. Got there sunday morning at 9 with wife and kids. Didnt fish hard just went to a new area and played. Found clean water and wife put some specs in the boat. I got to try my new Okuma trio 40 rigged with 10 pound test. Caught a nice 27 inch red and that reel is nice ...tried it on a few specs too. Ended with 30 only 4 whities. Most specs were 13-14. They liked chartreuse gulp minnow. Whitebeans saw your boat at terrys but didnt see you. Looks like specs in the bays still if you can avoid oil spill response boats everywhere. Specs in clean water 18 inches under cork.

Spillway Fishing

Did anyone do any good in the Spillway this weekend. I went to Pigeon and hit Grand Lake and few places in between, and did not do much. Just looking for some general reports (not locations, lures, etc). I fished it all, grass mats, structure, stained and clear water, so I was just wondering if it was the fisherman or the conditions that caused the slow day? Let me know...

another fun Hopedale trip

Spent a wonderful day at Hopedale Saturday. Sunny, but the air was dry, nice. My daughter Megan is now attending college in the area and got her first redfish trip. My father-in-law Jerry also joined us. We got a mid-morning start to miss the BP madness and catch the tide change.

It didn't start out so nice when I got the truck stuck in mud in the BSM parking lot after launching, but we decided to go fishing and figure it out later.

We started off in the back of Pete's Lagoon where we got them last time. As usual, they had moved, nothing. Started working further back towards Lake Borgne, and the bite picked up. Nothing fast, but steady action. We would catch 1-3 reds or drum, then ..... Read More
