Breton Sound Bullred Fishkill.
A few days ago I was motoring across Breton Sound and came across a horrible sight... Thousands of big mature redfish flying dead on the surface. They went on for miles and miles. I know anyone out there recently can confirm this. I took pictures and video. The fish were stacked up in a rip line with 'pogie foam'. That nasty brown foam that is a byproduct of pogie ships harvesting. The miles of dead redfish were also a byproduct of pogie harvest. Tell me how it is ok to protect the mature fish with our ,one over 27' limit, for fishermen but these boats are allowed to kill TONS of weight in mature spawning size redfish. I don't know what can be done but I think everyone should know ..... Read More

05/22/2013 Hopedale Report
05/22/2013 Hopedale Report
As most of you know, the MRGO rocks in Hopedale have been on fire. Had to go see for myself. I hadn't been to Hopedale since last fall so I was certainly looking forward to fishing out there. Phillip, Chase, and I arrived at BSM around 6:00 A.M. and were running down the spoil canal by 6:30.
We arrived in the MRGO and immediately fount gulls diving. After about a half an hour messing around with small trout and gafftops, we pulled up the trolling motor and proceeded to where we originally intended to fish. At our first stop along the rocks, we proceeded to smoke the trout one after another. I had on a chartreuse Super Spook and Phillip and Chase threw double ..... Read More

Great day of fishing out of Sweetwater/Delacroix!!!
Made the trip Friday morning from Prairieville to Delacroix with my Dad and my 2 sons (4 & 8 yrs old). Left the house at 4:00 and was a bit surprised that it started getting light around 5:20 on our way down.
Got the boat in the water and saw Capt. Jack just as we were about to pull off. Boat is smaller so wanted to fish on the inside. Capt. Jack gave us some directions so off we went. It was an area to the West I had never fished before and normally wouldn’t have considered but it was a much shorter run than the one I had planned so we went for it.
Spent a little time exploring and made a couple stops; not much luck so ran about ½ mile. Worked that area and sometime ..... Read More

Good As It Gets 5-25-13
Day 3 with BISSO Marine for Houma Oilmans. Just when you think it can't get any better than the last two days....it does. With the forecast showing the winds picking up, we knew we had a short window. All it took was one stop and thirty minutes later at 6:50am it was a done deal. Two at a time just about every cast as fast as the baits hit the water. It just doesn't get any better. Double rigged Avocado Matrix Shad put the hurt on the trout once again. Big thanks to BISSO Marine, SURBO, Vesco Rental, and Elite Energy Services, and all the Capt's who worked hard to put your crews on the fish. 100% success, thanks again to everyone involved.
Give me a call if you want in on this insane ..... Read More

Big trout, sharks, triple tail and drum(9 trips worth)
No rest for the weary, but enjoying the heck out of the good weather and fishing...
Myself, Capt Matt and Capt Kenny were out on Thursday. Let the engines run on the flat calm crossing to the LA Marsh. Moving clean water, that was full of bait and trout. My crew was an hour behind the other two boats, but we rolled up, they were slinging trout over the sides. Kenny had Mr Ron Williams, his son and his grandson out. Mr Ron caught the biggest trout of the year last year with Capt Kenny(6lber). They had not broken the old record yet, but had done well with some huge trout. Kenny said their bite was slowing down, but pointed us over to some diving gulls in open water. We lucked out and ..... Read More

Sweetwater Guide Service and Marina
Sweetwater Guide Service and Marina is officially the only marina of choice for me at Delacroix! This decision has come to me recently due to the impressively high level of services provided as well as the friendly attitude that I have come to expect. In years past, I have spread my business equally among the various launches so as not to hurt any one particular business owner. On my most recent fishing trip, we had launched at Sweetwater, and, as we were making our way down the bayou, we had soon begun to experience engine difficulties. Luckily, we were able to limp back to the launch. When we returned to Sweetwater, Captain Jack was right there to meet us at the dock. As always, the ..... Read More

Lake Hartwell May Hybrid/Striper Report
“If you caught fish, then you were at the right place at the right time,” said Bryan at the Bait Shop in Anderson. “Cold, rain, and wind have made it a tough spring for hybrid/striper fishermen.”
“I think the fish are confused whether they want to stay up or down river,” stated Bryan. “Fishermen are catching them from up at the Keowee River to down at the dam.”
Anglers have reported that large groups of fish have been few and far between, but the big fish are still in the creeks and off the points. These fish are holding in 15-30 feet of water and are being caught with live blueback herring on down rods.
“They are not where they normally are for this time of year,” said ..... Read More
