bowfishing/fishing
went to cocodrie friday 7/23/10 and shot 13 reds and 2 sheephead(3people). went fishing the next morning with 2 boats 4 people in each boat and caught 17 nice specks, 1 flounder in our boat and the other boat caught 25 and a red.. only fished for 2 hrs i think before the rain came. HAD A GOOD TIME.

bow fishing lights
im going with 12volt lights to set uo my 16ft flat for bowfishing. im going with the lights built up on a rack abt 7ft high. would it be better to use lights with a beam or more like a flood light?

dularge redfishing
hey guys ive been fishing down in dularge pretty often over past few weeks and been getting easy limits of reds. we have been fishing upper dularge around the jug lake area. dont get me wrong, catching limits of reds is always awesome but we have been doing it on the bottom with frozen shrimp, and many of ya'll know that my passion is fishing for them in shallow areas up in ponds and stuff. we are going down their either tomorrow or wednesday and i was wandering if the fishing on the northern bank of Lake Mechant is good for reds?? i don't need any spots or anything at all i can find my own spots, i just want to know if the reds are in mechant. i will be using plastics, spinner ..... Bayou Segnette
I heading out with the family to stay in Bayou Segnette for the weekend. I going to bring my 17ft boat to fish with my son. Can anyone give me some advice or input for this area. I only fish on the east side of the river. Is it a easy run to Lake Salvador, or should I just stay close and give the little guy some crickets to keep him busy. Thanks

Today Capt.James had Jeremy Holmes,his 6 year old son Grant,Donald and Keith onboard for some speckled trout action.Made the run to the bay and picked up a few before they headed to the beach and found a good trout bite.The guys put a bunch of trout on ice and called it an early day when Grant got too hot.Even though young Grant got hot he was the fisherman of the day landing a very nice bull red.And to top it off while Capt.James was cleaning trout he landed a monster blue cat with the help of dad right by the cleaning table plus a gar.Not as big as the one he caught in Texas but a good size one.Jeremy once again a good trip.Thanks for everything and will see ya soon.

lake p
i went fishing today from the bank in lake ponchartrain not very familiar with the lake just the particular spot i fish i usually catch hard head croaker and flounder . my rods started bending over and started catching what i think was black tip shark one after another. i never landed any of the fish everytime they got near the shore they either straightened out the hook or cut my leader. i never got a good look at the the whole fish jus their tail and the tip was black and they swam like a shark. is there black tip shark in the lake, what kinda fish do yall think they were?

New to New Orleans
I'm starting school at Tulane this fall and haven't fished the Ocean or the south before, let alone New Orleans. I'm from Michigan so I imagine it'll be fairly different fishing. Any insight is appreciated.

Lafitte Reds July 24th
After fishing Friday pm and catching some nice fish we listened to the weather and decided to give Saturday morning a try. My Brother-in-law came in so off we went back down to Little Lake for some more Red Fish Action. It was not long and we were stacking them up. We worked several schools and pounded the banks between schools. All fish were caught on spinner baits and gold spoons.

Back on the water
The trout are out there three boats out this morning and all limited out. Awesome morning. I was ask do I think the fish had oil in them. I told them SURE when they hit Crisco Lake. YUMMIEEEEEEEEE

Lake des allmands
The fish are on fire in lake des allmands. Bass and crappie are biting just about every cast. I went monday and today and i filled the boat up.

I am heading to the point to try and find some reds and specks with the wife and a buddy in the morn... Any suggestions/comments to help us on our first trip there would be much appreciated...

Penn Reels
Hello Sportsman, does anyone use a old Penn 109 reel? I'm fairly new to Saltwater fishing, but I bought one of these brand new as a kid and I never really used it. Thinking of trying it out for some inshore/pier fishing around here and matching it with a Ugly Stick 6'6 medium action. Any input on what to string it with or what it can handle is appreciated!

Does anybody have the GPS coordinates of the new well that was hit in lower Lafitte,some say its in Bayou St. Denis, Mud Lake, now i hear its on the left side of the Intracoastal around Bay Cray????????????? Pete

went juggin in the mermentau by lowry. we caught 16. we didnt find the fish until about an hour before the trip was over. if we would have found them earlier we could have easily doubled our catch. nothing really big, but all good size to eat. here is a pic of the biggest

took the kids to run jugs thursday ended the day with 10 flatheads up to 10 lbs, 3 blues, and the highlight of the day was a 5 and a half ft gar, estimated to be about 65 or 75 lbs. left the jugs soak overnight, picked em up friday morn for another 3 flats and 4 big blues up to 18 lbs. caught everything on live bream out of bute larose landing.

Yesterday I had the pleasure of fishing with Stan Eilers and his two daughters Taylor and Taryn. We left the dock at 5:30 am heading for Little lake. By the time we reached the lake the wind was kicking up pretty good.Our first stop produced no fish so we made a move further south and that put the first fish in the boat, caught by Taryn. It also turned out to be the biggest fish of the day 9 1/2lbs, beating her dad by a 1/4 of a pound. It turned out to be a stick and move morning catching one or two here and there, ending with a nice box of fish. All fish caught on Smoke/chart and purple/chart spinnerbaits.

Been since before the MRGO was closed since I fished the 'Rocks'.... can anyone offer information on whether or not MRGO is closed south of Bayou Loutre or on the north side? If it is on the south, any guidance on how to navigate to the rocks is appreciated. Thanks!
