New Orleans Fishing Report What a great week of fishing. We had people from Wisconsin, Maryland, Texas, and Minnesota. No speckle trout to report on, but lots of red fish. The water is pretty dirty and low, which doesn’t make for a good combination for fishing with plastic baits. The most productive bait was (stink crickets) shrimp. Most of the reds were averaging 18-24 inches. The most productive areas had been dead end canals; try to find some deep water if possible. This is not going to be like summertime fishing. The water is still cold and the fish are very lethargic. You can expect the bite to be very slow BE VERY PATIENT! I did catch a few black and chartreuse bass assassin sea shad. Retrieve your bait very slowly and hold your rod about eleven o’clock thus making your rod very sensitive. There is a bad front coming in tonight, strong winds and dropping temperatures make for more crazy patterns. If you want to come fishing we have two lodges, 6 full time guides, and we are Louisiana’s only Orvis endorsed fishing lodge. The Cajun vista is only 19 miles from New Orleans. Dates are booking fast, don’t wait too long to book your trip or you’ll be standing on the banks!! www.neworleansfishing.com 504-341-5614
