Bayou State Couples Fishing Club held their first tournament of the year at Belle River out of Adams Landing. What a beautiful day to fish!!
All members brought in at least one fish for the weigh in, with one couple bringing in the 5 fish limit. Congratulations to Chris and Martiz Ballard. The tournament winners were: 1st Chris and Martiz Ballard 9.68 lbs. 2nd James and Sharlot Edwards 8.25 lbs. 3rd Gary and Stacy Crain 8.13 lbs. Men's Big Bass Danny Guerin 3.24 lbs. Ladies Big Bass Sharlot Edwards 3.64 lbs.
Saturday proved to be a wonderful day with a slight breeze and blue bird sky. The temp reached about 75 degrees but felt much warmer in the sun. With the full moon the night before, the fish were slower to react to the baits thrown. We used various baits such as brush hogs, lizards and worms. The bass really liked watermelon and watermelon/red colored baits. I even threw my spinner bait while my husband fished his favorite top water bait, I didn't have as much luck as he did....
